William Tsiaras – Aiding Blindness

2006, Health & Longevity
Presented By: William Tsiaras

Ophthalmologist William Tsiaras discusses cataracts and current and possible future solutions. The majority of people in the industrialized world suffer from age-related cataracts, he says. Surgery has been developed to replace the obsolete lens but so far cannot replace the function of both near sight and far sight. William shows a visual recording of a cataract removal procedure and talks about work into developing new treatment. Unfortunately, he says, the medical community is not aware of any effective prevention. However, the future of cataract solutions is bright, William says, as researchers look hopefully for better treatment.
