Dr. Gabor Maté on Mind, Body and Medicine

2004, Health & Longevity
Presented By: Gabor Maté

In this first part of Dr. Gabor Maté’s talk, he states unequivocally that in Western medicine we put our faith in the separation of mind and body, whereas in almost all other medical traditions mind-body unity is taken for granted. We’ve lost sight of our intuitions, and the more scientific knowledge we have, the less we retain our innate wisdom, he argues. He mentions his work on the dangers of stress, and his core observation is that when we don’t know how to say no to emotional demands by others, the body, through chronic disease, will say it for us.
