Session 12 – Policy Geeks

21/06/2013

Our final ideacity session ended with our policy geeks, these geeks took the stage to discuss politics.  Our first geek was Daniel Bell who discussed the theory is the West best?  During his talk, he discussed concepts such as how is it best to elect our leaders and the emerging political system in China.

Our next politically aligned geek was Michael Nicula who founded the Online Party of Canada.  He recently founded this political party in 2009 and is now included in the list federal political parties.  Michael hopes that he is able to use the internet to reduce corruption in the political system and increase representation.

Our next speaker needed no introduction, Conrad Black was back at ideacity naturally during our policy section.  Conrad started his talk on with President Nixon and the Vietnam war.  This history specialist dove into what he knows best during his talk on the impact of technology on politics.

Our final speaker of the session and ideacity on a whole is author Robert J. Sawyer who has come to wrap it all up for us.  Robert gave the audience an overview of the conference and tied a nice bow around what a gaggle of geeks is all about.

Now ideacity is over for yet another year, we’ve had some excellent geeks take our stage over the past three days and we are just a little bit wiser.  For now though to our geeks, audience, and those of you at home: live long and prosper.
