POP Musical Tribute

15/08/2024

POP Montreal will celebrate Lhasa de Sela almost 15 years after her death. The 2024 edition of the alternative music and arts festival is set to feature a tribute concert to the influential folk artist. La Route Chante: Hommage à Lhasa will close the festival on September 29, with her friends and collaborators, as well as a new generation of musicians influenced by her work, performing her songs. From the get-go with her 1997 debut, it was difficult to categorize this girl from Quebec, born of a Mexican father and an American mother, who sang in Spanish to a music they could not name. But she captured our attention. Before Lhasa lost her battle with cancer in 2010, she made a lasting impression on the audience at ideacity in 2016.
