World Class Cuban Jazz

26/01/2024

Modern jazz musician Jane Bunnett is a champion of Cuban music and the people who play it. For decades, she has used her platform and incredible talent as a soprano saxophonist and flutist to support rising stars of the Afro-Cuban scene. Specifically, since 2015, in what started out as a project to mentor young Cuban female musicians, she’s been recording and touring with Maqueque. Playing with Fire, which “captures the cutting-edge evolution of this award-winning ensemble,” is their most recent album. Moses was a fan of Jane’s dating back to the beginning of her brilliant career. So even though this performance at ideacity goes back almost 20 years, it captures the spirit and intention of the role she continues to play in bringing Cuban music to the world.
