Siwan Anderson – The 100 Million “Missing Women”

2009, Cultural Studies
Presented By: Siwan Anderson

University of British Columbia economist, Siwan Anderson is trying to find the 100 million “missing women” in India, China and sub-Saharan Africa.  By “missing” Anderson means these women are dead based on discrimination practices that are in excess of the mortality rate for men.  Her findings are far more  culturally complex then the generally held assumption of infanticide.
