Ken Danby on The Place of the Arts in Society

2005, Art & Design, Cultural Studies
Presented By: Ken Danby

Contemporary realist painter Ken Danby describes his work as the restructuring of an image into a pointed depiction of reality and talks about the thought required to create any work of art. Art has the unique quality of acting as a thought-catalyst for otherwise untouchable parts of the brain, he says. To think of art merely as an expression of talent is to ignore its significant place in fostering a creative, open-minded world. Ken argues that the arts are undervalued and must find a permanent place in our education system.
