Jaymie Matthews – Using the Universe To Teach Us About Our Home

2004, Science & Technology, Space
Presented By: Jaymie Matthews

Jaymie Matthews, astrophysicist, asteroseismologist and popularizer of science, speaks about how we can use remote places in the Universe to teach us about our home, and how we can do it at a fraction of the cost of what these types of science missions would normally cost. He tells the story of the satellite, MOST, and what it will accomplish, in addition to being the first Canadian space telescope and the first all-Canadian scientific satellite in over 30 years. The objective? To remotely probe the interiors of other stars to teach us more about our own star, the sun.
