Gunther Von Hagens on Body Worlds

2005, Art & Design, Quirks & Rarities
Presented By: Gunther Von Hagens

Gunther Von Hagens talks about his travelling show Body Worlds. Gunther preserves donated cadavers using a technique he developed called “plastination”. He positions the skinless cadavers in various positions, determined by the body’s former inhabitant. Gunther discusses the cultural differences that have forced him to adjust the show according to its location. Is Gunther’s work art or science? Either way, it is the subject of remarkable controversy. Gunther believes we must embrace death to understand life, and in doing so it’s a good idea to reveal the “beauty beneath the skin”.
