John de Chastelain – Negotiating Peace Abroad

From 2002, Chairman of the International Body on the Decommissioning of Arms in Northern Ireland, General John de Chastelain, tells us about his time in the Canadian army, as well as his issue with the reduction in armed forces and lack of training. Being that he is of Irish decent, John touches on what the peace process was in Ireland, what the role of decommissioning in it was and why it was in crisis.
