Lise Anne Coutoure

Lise Anne Couture received her Master of Architecture degree from Yale University in 1986. In 1988, she co-founded Asymptote in New York with Hani Rashid. She has held Visiting Professor appointments at numerous academic institutions including Princeton University, the University of Montreal, the Berlage Institute of Amsterdam, the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, Barnard College, the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture in New York as well as the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she was awarded the Muschenheim Fellowship. She has been a Professor in the Department of Architecture at Parsons School of Design in New York since 1990 and is currently Bishop Chair Professor for the 2002 academic year at Yale University.

The work of Asymptote includes architectural design at all scales – furniture, interior, building and urban design – and extends to digital environments and installations. Building projects include the Advanced Trading Floor Command Center for the New York Stock Exchange, the Guggenheim Centre for Art and Technology, the Eyebeam Museum for Art and Technology, a museum for Mercedes Benz in Stuttgart and an event and delivery centre for BMW in Munich.
