Jane Bunnett

Jane Bunnett

Hailed as one of the finest artists working in modern jazz, soprano saxophone player and flutist Jane Bunnett has earned a reputation as a brave musical explorer – and as one of North America’s most talented and authentic interpreters of Cuban music. Her own odyssey began in trumpeter Larry Cramer, first visited Cuba. Enchanted with the people and with their music, Bunnett, who has been twice nominated for a Grammy, has since made over a dozen trips to the country and has recorded several critically acclaimed albums (Cuban Odyssey was chosen as the winner of the best world album category at he 2003 Urban Music Awards and as the winner of the Best Latin Jazz Album at the 2003 Jazz Journalist Awards). So impressive is her mark that, last year, the Smithsonian recognized and honoured Bunnett for her “lifetime of dedication to the enrichment and diffusion of Latin music.”
