The Four Anglos

The Four Anglos

The Four Anglos have lived through two referendums on Quebec sovereignty (the “apocalypse” of the title) – and have come out laughing. This story of Montreal’s English-speaking community is told in a mix of songs and cartoons by Montreal’s four troubadours of trouble: Terry Mosher (Aislin), political cartoonist at the Montreal Gazette; Josh Freed, Montreal journalist and humorist; and Bowser and Blue, purveyors of musical comedy since 1978.

Since its opening in 2005, the show has been a frequent sell-out at Montreal’s Centaur Theatre, where it has run four times. The show’s success may be partly due to its optimistic message. English Quebecers, many of whom have thought about leaving the province because of the politics and the language issue, leave the theatre feeling that there has been a purpose to all their anxiety.
