In the 1980s Molly Johnson was at the heart of the Queen Street West music scene in Toronto. The singer/songwriter was best known for singing with pop-rock bands Alta Mode and the Infidels. But she always had another musical route to explore in performing jazz, where her repertoire including working with jazz singer Holly Cole’s band and singing in a private performance for the Prince and Princess of Wales on the Royal Yacht Britannia.

Johnson further explores the elegant sounds and stylings of jazz on her self-titled debut solo album, released in the fall of 2000. She also spent four years organizing the Kumbaya Festival, a series of star-studded benefits concerts for AIDs research, and raised close to Cdn$1 million for AIDS-related charitable organizations. Johnson lives in Toronto.
