Under George Cope’s stewardship, Clearnet Communications has done more than spawn the cutest little frog ever to jump-start a marketing campaign.

Since he became President of Clearnet in 1987 and a Director in 1988, the national communications company in Canada to offer per-seconding billing, the first to offer Internet phone messaging, the first to sell wireless phones on the Internet, and the first to do away with binding long-term contracts and activation fees.

Today, it is a public company that has raised in excess of $3 billion in capital, launched two state-of-the-art digital wireless networks, and increased its total number of clients to more than 400,000 and its employment to more than 2,400 team members. As a savvy player in the world market, Clearnet has developed strategic partnerships and exclusive supplier relationships with global wireless leaders such as Motorola, Nextel and Lucent Technologies.

Prior to joining Clearnet, Mr. Cope was President and Chief Operating Officer of Bell Cellular Distribution Services. He is currently a director of Star Data Systems Inc. and sits on the advisory boards of the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario.
